Tết is also an occasion for pilgrims and family reunions. During Tết, Vietnamese visit their relatives and temples, forgetting about the troubles of the past year and hoping for a better upcoming year. They consider Tết to be the first day of spring and the festival is often called spring festival.

Tết is celebrated on the same day as Chinese New Year, though exceptions arise due to the one-hour time difference between Hanoi and Beijing resulting in the alternate calculation of the new moon. It takes place from the first day of the first month of the Lunar calendar (around late January or early February) until at least the third day. Many Vietnamese prepare for Tết by cooking special holiday foods and cleaning the house. There are a lot of customs practiced during Tết, such as visiting a person's house on the first day of the new year , wishing New Year's greetings, giving lucky money to children and elderly people, and opening a shop.

My hobby

Hobby is something you should do only for yourself. People may have many different types of hobbies during their lifetimes. When we are very young, most of our time is spent playing with dolls or toy trucks. As we get older, our hobbies might change, or they might not. Some people who collected stamps as a child might still be collecting stamps when they are 80. Other people might change their interests every year depending on fashion. Like many others, I have had numerous hobbies and interests throughout my life, but one of my hobbies over the years is rearing ornamental fish.

When I was five, my father gave me some guppies ( cá 7 màu ^^ ) . I reared these fishes in a bottle, and i put a book on the top of the bottle to make sure that nobody else can steal them. I think you can guess the result. Yes, of course, all my fishes died. From then on, I determined to study the best rearing fish way, so rearing ornamental fish became my hobby. I never regret for choosing that hobby. Here are some reason:

First of all, Everyone has different life circumstances, different work pressure, but when looking at home aquariums, they will find stress reduction and mental comfort. Now i’m living far away from home. Some people say that i’m old enough; therefore, i must learn the way to live when my parents don’t stand by me. I'm loving living every single day; however, sometimes I feel so lonely. I hope to find a little peace of mind. Whenever i feel like that, my best friends are guppies. Looking at fish swimming, I feel relieved soul.

Secondly, Rear ornamental fish will give me a lot of fun when i daily care and watch the growth of plants in aquatic aquarium. It’s a vivid picture of a miniature world of underwater life contains many interesting things hidden in the natural world; moreover, i find that the right hobby can save my money because they keep me from spending money. I'm rearing, or planning to buy a new aquarium, or thinking about things that I would like to make, I'm not going out, shopping and spending money. I know that when I'm bored, I'm tempted to go shopping, for lack of something better to do. But now, outside school time and homework, I just stay at home to take care of my fishes.

Finally, not just for fun, many people believe that fish in the scene will bring many of luck and the welfare, prosperity for the family. I believe that because since i have a aquarium in my room, everything seems better.

In conclusion, i want to tell you one thing important. Hobbies not only open your mind to new experiences but they also take up your time, so be careful when you choose a hobby.

our university

Becoming a student in HCM university of technical education was a major turning point in my life. I'd made the leap from high school to university. That was great! I never thought i could become a student in this school. The reason is when I studied in high school, i just only studied Math, Chemistry, Physics. However, in the final semester, i felt tied of studying these subjects. I wanted to escape; indeed, i wanted to delete all things relate. I started looking for a school which is not teach Math, Chemistry, Physics, but i couldn’t find out. It was seem the sky is falling down.
Fortunately, my cousin who studies in HCM university of technical education told me that his school is the one i’m looking for. I decided to register at that school, tried my best to over come the entrance exam, and now i’m one of the HCM university of technical education freshman. From now on, i start to write a new page of my life.
This is the first time i’m far away from home. As I was moving into the university, I was very nervous about everything: friends, teachers and the curriculum. My first day at school was special for me. It was the day when I entered into a big "family", my school. I didn’t know about it until that time. I just thought that may be it as big as Long Thanh high school, and i was sure a school in city couldn’t have many trees. However, the differences between images and reality are completely. What a large school it is! The school have not only big classes but also many trees . The most thing i like is the beautiful garden with the lake at C zone.
Study in university is quite more difficult than study in high school. Sometimes I imagine that my school is a big castle with a beautiful garden in front of it having a lot of rooms locked at the begining. We all are in front of this "Great Castle" holding keys, which are going to unlock the rooms (a locked door is a symbol of knowledge which is hidden inside). Some af us can open only one room, the others more. I would like to open them all. If i want to do that, the library will help me. Because teachers in university play the role as the guides, our role is finding the ways to study by ourselves. The school’s library is big. It have many kind of book so that student can find all things they need.
Study and play go together hand-in-hand in university. We have many chance to participate in sport competition. It’s really funny! I like it.

I just have learned in HCM university of technical education for three months; therefore, i haven’t knew much about our school. I like going to school because here we can learn a lot of interesting things. School is an interesting place for me where I want to go every day. Everyday we start school, we know that today we are going to learn something new and useful for us. I feel myself is a part of this family.

Sometimes in life, i find a special person who changes my life just by being part of it, and the name of that person is “ friend “. Endless line between life, and you met me. Sometimes, the meeting is accidental, but sometimes is the fate of the arrangements. I don’t know exactly what friendship is; nevertheless, i think friendship like oxygen and chocolate: you need it to live, and to love life. I’m very lucky, for i having 2 friends, Mai and Thuan, who always beside me whenever i need. They are play a role not only as friends but also as a family which i can choose. Friendship; indeed, though not such troubles and hard to define as love , but to understand, feel and achieve .. not such a simple. We studied together at Long Thanh high shool, we understand each other very well; however, we still have some misunderstands. The longest time we argued; in fact, we didn’t speak to each other was when Thuan completely forgot my birthday. I expected her wish, but she made me felt so sad. I cried so much, i angried ; moreover, i was sure i never spoke to her again. Two month later, i found that the fault was mine. Thuan was sick that day because she went to a bookstore to bougth gift for me; moreover, it rained heavily. She couldn’t came to my birthday party. The reason why she didn’t told me that she was sick was she lay the blame on her. I didn’t know the truth until Mai told me. I was a bad friend; in fact, i was a selfish girl. All i could do is ran as fast as posible to Thuan’s house. When i came, Mai and Thuan were there. I said: “ i’m so sorry, my friends! Could you please forgive me?” . We hugged, cried and promised that we never had that mistake again. Friendship, it needs caring and maintenance. If you love your friends, do not wait until tomorrow to talk to that person know it. Because the next day it might never come again. Always remember that friendship is not nice from a side, not only do not always get that going. A friendship circle is created from simple things, isn’t it?

write about my family

My family do not include anyone famous or infamous, but it's still of great value. For me, it’s a perfect heaven, a peaceful place ( 1 ) whenever i want to hide all of my sadness ( 6 ).

There are four people in my family ( 2 ), my father, my mother, my brother and of course, me. We live together in our small house ( 2 ) with a pretty garden ( 1 ). My father is forty-four years old. He is a worker in Long Thanh plastic company ( 2 ). He is a jovial man ( 1 ) who always tell many funny stories ( 1 ) to make us smile ( 6 ). My father likes gardening very much as well as watching Tv programs, specially football programs. Doesn’t like most of the men who never want to cook ( 6 ) , my father likes cooking and he cooks very well. On weekend ( 2 ), when i come back to home, he cooks many delicious foods ( 1 ) i like. I’m sure that he is one of the best cookers ( 1 ) all over the world ( 2 ). That's failings if i don’t tell you ( 3 ) about my mother and my brother. My mother has the same age with my father. Most people find it difficult to define who they want to become in the future by themselves. ( 1 ) According to me, it’s easy to find out my way. ( 4 )I know who I am, so i know exactly what jobs is suitable for me. I believe that I am really capable of becoming a teacher. Of course, i know some factors needed to be a teacher. ( 1 )
First of all, my mother is a teacher, (5) and she told me many interesting stories( 2 )When you are a teacher ( 5 ), it’s mean that you are a mother, too. You don’t have 1 or 2 sons. You have, at least, 25 sons. ( 1 )How can you become a good mother ( 1 ), i mean a good teacher? ( 1 ) You can’t do this ( 1 ) if you don’t have true love with teaching. ( 1 ) When you desire to teach, it’s a motivation for you to overcome all obstacles. ( 5 )
Secondly, teaching is an interesting work, and it's requiring us to have an enthusiastic heart. ( 5 ) Your job is not only widen knowledge but also show them the way to become a good person. To do that, you should create good learning environment( 1 ) so that students can study more effectively. ( 4 ) Besides, you are the role model to students ( 5 ), you need to do more than just teach. ( 3 )
Finally, wide knowledge is the priority ( 5 ) because it plays an impotant role in your teaching. ( 1 ) However, nobody can know every thing. ( 3 ) You should be willing to learn from students and other teachers. You are a life long learner, too.
